I can never have enough highlighters, so I picked up the J.Cat baked highlighter during an online ULTA haul. Baked formulas aren’t really my favorite, because in my experience, they aren’t that pigmented. And I don’t have time to wet my brush and blend in the morning. #lazygirlproblems. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised by the pigmentation of this J.Cat Beauty highlighter, and it’s a crime that I haven’t heard anyone talk about this product.
The beautiful shape and affordability drew me to Real Technique’s new Diamond Miracle Sponge. I use their original Miracle Complexion sponge all the time (I even have four backups right now), and it gets the job done. As a disclaimer, I’ve never used a Beauty Blender. I don’t see the point in shelling out $20 for a sponge that has to be replaced in a month or so. While the Diamond Miracle Sponge is expensive for drugstore, it certainly surpasses the original and is still more affordable than a Beauty Blender.
I was at ULTA, and these new Physicians Formula Bronze Booster palettes caught my eye. Physicians Formula is just one of those brands whose presentation I think is amazing, but I’m never tempted to buy their products. They are famous for their powders and bronzers, two makeup items I’m not too excited about. But because I’ve been into contouring lately and I always want new highlighters, I figure these palettes could be a good investment.
I haven’t tried the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops, but I’m fascinated with the idea. I struggle with redness and hyperpigmentation from acne. In the mornings, I don’t want to spend a ton of time trying to cover my skin issues, so I use medium-to-full coverage foundations on most days. Shelling out $40 for a foundation mixer seemed excessive. Thus, I hopped on the train when NYX launched their Total Control Drop Foundation.
Good drugstore highlighters are hard to come by, especially for fair-skinned beauty lovers. Most of the time, the shade selection doesn’t go light enough for the product to be a true highlight. You end up with a weird, noticeable colored streak on your cheeks, and nobody wants that. So when Milani came out with a bunch of new highlighting product, I picked one of the Strobelights to see if it could be a good drugstore highlight for people with a skin tone like me. Let’s take a look!
