Maybelline Color Sensational

I was browsing through the New Arrivals on the ULTA website when I stumbled across this new collection. Warm nudes are just a staple in my collection, and I can never have enough, especially if they are from the drugstore. These Inti-Matte nudes come in the same formula as the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte lipstick formula. The shade range is to die for; you have everything from ultra-nude peaches to warm chocolate brown nudes. Let’s see some swatches.

Details

These Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Matte Nudes retail for $8 USD. They are housed in the same packaging as Maybelline’s Creamy Matte formulas, just with a lighter, warmer cap color. The cap is matte, while the lipstick tube itself is silver. Overall, it’s an elegant design for a drugstore.

I picked up five shades: Beige Babe, Peach Buff, Honey Pink, Naked Coral, and Almond Rose. As you can see, they all have a neutral-to-warm undertone.

I’m impressed with the shade range. Whether you have a cool or warm undertone, or range from fair to deep, there’s something in this collection for everyone. These colors are a great way to wear color in an understated way in an office or at school. I personally like to dab the ultra-nude shades on top of the brighter colors to tone the color down and give the trendy ombre lip effect.

Let’s take a closer look at the five shades I bought. My lips were quite moisturized, but I didn’t exfoliate them beforehand.

Swatches of Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Mattes

Beige Babe is a light warm beige, and Peach Buff is a white-based, neutral-to-cool pink. Both these shades give me major concealer lips, so I wouldn’t wear these alone. I would pair these with a darker lip liner or use them as mixer shades to lighten darker lip colors.

Honey Pink and Naked Coral look very similar in swatches, but they are quite different on the lips. Honey Pink is lighter and is a warm, bright pink. It’s loud, but not so loud that you couldn’t get away with it in an office. It’s surprisingly my favorite. Naked Coral is a muted, medium coral. I would say it’s like those trendy warm pinky terracotta shades (like Colourpop Bumble or Kat Von D’s Double Dare), but it’s wearable.

Almond Rose is a medium-dark warm mauve rose. It’s the most unique color of the bunch, and I can see it would look fitting in the fall. On deeper skin tones, it can make a great pinky nude.

 Mini-Review

 (4.5/5)

These lipsticks are still formulated in Maybelline’s Creamy Matte formula. In my opinion, it is hands-down the best matte lipstick formula at the drugstore. Just like the name, they are creamy and ultra-pigmented in just one swipe. The color lasts for hours until you eat. The lighter shades, like Peach Buff and Beige Babe, are chalky, but that’s to expected in such a drying, matte formula. Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your lips well before application. Otherwise, the flakes on your lips can “ball” around upon application and throughout the day.

But overall, these lipsticks are fantastic. If you want to save money and not have to pay $20-30+ for a pigmented and buttery formula, go with some Maybelline Color Sensational.
